The desert surrounding Siwa was once a military zone. During this time some magnificent tombs were plundered. This has been recent with thieves using explosives to open sealed tombs. Many times the cliffs above would cave in and block any and all access to these tombs. There are still many hidden tombs far and wide from the town of Siwa. |
